About

Female artists are rarely among the go-to names in
the Surrealist canon. Man Ray, Dalí and Magritte often come up, but Kay Sage or Leonora Carrington? In my mind, female surrealist artists should have special significance in the history of art, not only because they are not inferior to the excellent works of male artists,
but also because of their passion and persistence in what they love. We can recognize their unique self-definition
in their self-portraits.

Approach

I generated an exhibition around several surrealist women artists at LACMA, and the layout for an exhibition catalog.  I also created a quarterly magazine in the name of the museum called LA Art. The magazine will include articles by some of the most recently featured artists and a calendar of the museum’s upcoming events. Layout and typography skills are applied to make them enjoyable reading material.
